Here’s a message from our Executive Director, Suzy Domingo.

Interfaith Caring Ministries’ Childcare Assistance Program (CAP) is a unique program which helps single parents with children complete their education. Monica was on her way to finishing up her last year of college.  She was earning her bachelor’s degree in education.  She loved children and her dream was to become a teacher for children with special needs.  She felt so blessed to have two happy, healthy children of her own. Being a single parent, the journey through her last year of college was going to be extremely difficult, but at last, she was seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.  With the kids scheduled to stay with the neighbor for a few hours in the evening, Monica was relieved she didn’t have to worry, until she received the call.  Her neighbor pulled out because of health issues that needed immediate attention.  Monica knew she couldn’t afford an additional expense.  With ICM’s Childcare Assistance Program, Monica received the help that she needed to complete her education and made her dreams come true.  Monica would like to thank all who donated to ICM’s Childcare Assistance Program.

There are many people in the same position as Monica. They possess the drive to go back to school, but lack the financial resources for quality childcare. Our Childcare Assistance Program helps to alleviate the financial burden of childcare for single parents working towards a high school diploma, GED, trade school degree, associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree. Our program pays up to $200 per month or $2,000 per year towards childcare.

Approximately 32% of our service area has a high school education or less. Since 2004, ICM’s Childcare Assistance Program has enrolled 160 single parents with 289 children. These children have received better childcare and exposure to the positive effects of post secondary education. Twenty three CAP recipients have graduated with a high school diploma or Bachelor’s degree in the past six years. Our Childcare Assistance Program is one of our programs leading to systematic change in our community and breaking the cycle of poverty.

There are still many families in need and we need your help. Your tax deductible contribution enables us to continue and expand this program. I sincerely hope you will support ICM’s Childcare Assistance Program.  You will find information about donating by visiting our website.  (Please remember to select CAP in the drop down menu.) On behalf of the scholarship recipients and graduates, I would like to offer our heartfelt thanks for your continued support. Your generosity is helping them turn their dreams into reality.

Warm Regards,

Suzy Domingo

Executive Director
